Aspen, CO - Four people were seriously injured in a crash on Highway 82 Tuesday morning, near the intersection of Dakota Road.
Richard Tallman, 75, was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser on the eastbound side of Highway 82 at approximately 9:14 a.m. when he crossed over the median and into the westbound lanes. He hit a Toyota Tacoma, which spun out of control and rolled across the westbound side of the highway. Tallman's vehicle kept going down the westbound lanes, colliding next with an Audi Station Wagon, after the Audi had skidded 150 feet in an apparent attempt to avoid the collision.
The Toyota Tacoma driver, Bonnie Snyder, whose age is unknown, had not been wearing a seatbelt and was thrown out of the driver's side during the rollover. She was pinned under the truck until rescue workers arrived and could extricate her. The most seriously injured, she remains in critical condition, having been airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction after initial treatment at Aspen Valley Hospital.
The Audi driver, Patrick J. Seurynck, 50, and his passenger Joan Widifred Haggerty, 49, both of Basalt, were transported to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs. Haggerty was later transferred to St. Mary's.
Tallman was taken to Aspen Valley Hospital but his condition remains unknown, due to privacy restrictions. All four people involved in the accident were described by state police as having serious injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Types of Insurance The insurance related to accidents and the resulting injuries would be casualty insurance, such as life and health insurance, and liability insurance. If you have been injured, your casualty insurance company, if any, should be obligated to reimburse and compensate you for your covered losses. And if your injury was caused by someone else, usually that other person's liability insurance company should compensate you for any harm not covered by your own casualty insurance company. However, you may have to sue and have a court determine whether the other person was actually at fault for your injury. Automobile insurance often works this way if there is a question of fault in an accident. The law in this area is controlled largely by your state.
