Denver, CO - A cyclist is dead and another person is in jail after a hit-and-run accident in Jefferson County.

According to police report, Anthony Brandolino, 37, of Broomfield was riding his bike westbound on Coal Creek Canyon Road at about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday when a sport utility vehicle swerved into him and killed him.

An eyewitness, Dave Saltzsieder, said that a speeding Chevrolet Blazer, heading in the same direction, was swerving on and off the shoulder just before it slammed into the bike.

The driver, 40-year-old Robert Gwizdalski, of Blackhawk, was caught several miles later at Colorado Highway 119 at Gap Road in Gilpin County.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and faces multiple felony charges.
