Vernon, CT - Vernon police said that a Manchester woman has died from injuries sustained when a car struck her as she had been crossing Vernon Street.
According to Vernon Police Lieutenant Brian Smith, Belle Jane Shepard, 44, was heading to work when she was hit by a car near Vernon Circle on July 16 around 9:20 p.m. while crossing Talcottville Road, also known as Route 83.
Jane Shepard was crossing the four lanes of traffic from east to west near the McDonald's restaurant and the Interstate 84 off ramp when a southbound car driven by Ralph Hick, 79, of Rocky Hill, struck her. She was taken to Hartford Hospital, where she finally died Thursday, August 9.
According to Lieutenant Smith, Ralph Hick was not at fault. Therefore, charges will not be filed against Ralph Hick.
