Generally, "slips and falls" (also called "trips and falls" or "slips, trips, and falls") would describe injuries occurring on someone else’s property as a result of a dangerous condition on that property--for instance, slipping and injuring yourself on food spilled on a restaurant floor. These kinds of accidents can occur on any property, whether public or private, such as parks, apartment-building common areas, private homes, or your office.
Environmental hazards account for 16% to 27% of nursing home falls (Ejaz 1994; Rubenstein 1994). Such hazards include wet floors, poor lighting, lack of bed rails, clutter, incorrect bed height, and improperly maintained or fitted wheelchairs (Baker 1985; Rubenstein 1994)
