Memphis, TN - Authorities said that a Midtown Memphis mom, Joanna Foster, was bitten while protecting her toddler from the pit bull on February 9.
According to the police report, Joanna Foster, her husband, daughter, and her dog, a German Shepherd, Bella, were walking in their Central Gardens neighborhood on February 9. When Mrs. Foster saw the pit bull was coming to attack her daughter, she veered her daughter’s stroller out of the pit bull's path.
The pit bull then clamped its jaws onto Foster’s left calf, tearing away a piece of flesh. At that point, Foster’s German Shepherd Bella jumped on the pit bull and saved them all.
Mrs. Foster was taken to hospital. She needed three stitches to cover the wound.
Memphis Animal Services removed the pit bull that attacked Foster from its owner’s home. Workers also took the owner's two other pit bulls.

Pedestrian accidents are happening more and more. With all the drivers on the road today there seems to be less attention paid to the pedestrian. If you have been involved in an accident where injuries were sustained, make sure that you are very clear about your rights. Even when contacted by an insurance company regarding any benefits or settlements regarding your pedestrian accident, it may be better to have legal representation. Something to consider when pursuing a pedestrian accident case is, who has your best interests in mind, the insurance company or your lawyer.
Other causes include difficulty in transferring (for example, moving from the bed to a chair), poor foot care (Ray 1997), poorly fitting shoes, and inappropriate or incorrect use of walking aids (Tinetti 1987)
